New Cvent and Edelman report uncovers the need for personalised events to reduce stress for event attendees.
An in-depth study ‘Inside the Mind of Event Attendees’, commissioned by Cvent, conducted by Edelman Intelligence, highlights the preferences and challenges of event attendees and the need for event organisers and marketers to provide more personalised encounters.
The research found that attendees are particularly stressed by not knowing anyone and trying to fit in. Overall, 76% of respondents agreed that networking with other attendees is a key part of the professional event experience. However, despite this importance, UK and US respondents highlighted networking as the third and fourth highest points of stress at events.
Getting inside the mind of attendees and uncovering worries of this nature, gives event organisers the chance to introduce solutions to ‘event stressors’ such as this. The research revealed that attendees want recommendations about other attendees to network with based on a range of factors. This level of personalisation can be achieved through event technology such as a mobile event app that helps attendees to connect virtually before, during and after the event.
