The MPI Ohio Recognition and Appreciation Event is an annual celebration to appreciate and recognize our members. Our membership is what makes the MPI Ohio Chapter such a successful organization. Be sure to register today, you won’t want to miss out!
We recognize that this will be the first time many have gathered in person and we are committed to following all guidelines to keep our members safe and feeling comfortable. While we are not offering this meeting as an hybrid option due to the personal nature of recognition, we understand that many of our members still need this option and will resume hybrid offerings with our next Chapter Meeting.
CE PROGRAM:
How to Be Heard in a Noisy Business World
Presented by: J. Kay Coughlin
Our workplaces are noisy operations with lots of competition for limited time, attention, and energy. When you have something important to say, finding your voice in that crowded business culture seems to require skill and experience that may feel out of reach. In this talk, Kay Coughlin delivers a simple technique anyone can use, any time you need to be heard. If you have something important to say but nobody seems to be listening – or if you want to help your team learn this critical skill – this talk is for you!
This is the one simple technique you need to know to:
• Greet your new boss for the first time in the elevator and make a great impression
• Secure a meeting with the best person to hear your message
• Pitch your project to colleagues inside your company
• Deliver the right message to the right person at the right time
• The exact steps to take to give you the best chance of delivering your message clearly
• Bonus: what to say to make sure everyone agrees on next steps
Team members and leaders alike know how critical it is to encourage two-way communication, so you can move projects ahead and achieve goals together. Don’t waste another day letting urgent information and ideas get away - learn “How to be Heard in a Noisy Business World!”

Christy Selby Lifetime Achievement Award
Christy Selby, former MPI member and beloved wife of Steven Selby; lost her battle with cancer in late December 2015 and will be immortalized again this year with an honorary award given in her name. Christy was an accomplished certified meeting and event planner at Cardinal Health. A lover of music and watching her family grow, she also enjoyed a good Cabernet from Napa Valley; she was a devotee of Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney World; and a superstitious Buckeye fan. The Christy Selby Lifetime Achievement Award will honor an individual who gives back freely to the MPI Ohio Chapter and in their career within the Meetings & Events industry. This award will be presented at the Annual MPI Recognition and Appreciation Event.
