COMMUNITY PARTNER: Rethreaded
Rethreaded's mission is to renew hope, reignite dreams and release potential for survivors of human trafficking locally and globally through business.
Rethreaded provides a second chance at life through employment for survivors of human trafficking in Jacksonville, Florida. Women have employment opportunities in different facets of the company including production, inventory, sales, marketing and finance/admin.
Rethreaded also operates as a distribution company that sells products from like-minded businesses who also employ women who have found freedom from the sex trade.
In the early 20th Century, The Seminole Club was at the top of the social scene and hosted many dignitaries, including President Teddy Roosevelt, President Dwight Eisenhower, and President John F. Kennedy. For 100 years, the club maintained high status in Jacksonville, until its eventual closing in 2004. The City recognized the building as a historic structure in 2006.
Across the street from City Hall, this Jacksonville landmark sat empty for a full decade, until it underwent a $2.3 million
renovation and opened to Sweet Pete’s and Candy Apple Café. The renovation brightened up the space with fresh paint and flooring, but kept much of the structural grandeur – rich wood, ornate fireplaces, and large windows.
Fast forward to 2020, the building was purchased by local developer JWB and is still home to Sweet Pete’s. The third floor, however, has been completely transformed into a 3000 sq. ft. upscale event space, and renamed White Hall. It’s a beautiful and much needed downtown space, and perfect for weddings, corporate parties and private events. Rental of White Hall is managed by Destination Planning Corporation.
