Bernadette Jaramillo-Peck


Where are you from? If you’re not from NM, tell us why you’ve settled here.
I am a native New Mexican, a member of Isleta Pueblo. My father was transferred to Washington DC where I worked at Dulles Airport while in school. We returned to New Mexico where I attended the University of New Mexico. 

Where do you work, and what’s your title? How long have you worked there?
I have been blessed in my career where I have been a part of numerous organizations. Currently, I am managing several associations providing services in their daily operations as well as event and conference management. I have been in the industry for over 20 years.  My first event was in high school where I was President of the DECA chapter and we started with fundraising with a car wash before the academic year began. With the proceeds, we started the school store. 

How long have you been a member of MPI?
I have been a member of MPI for many years serving as Vice President of Finance for 2 terms.

Why MPI? What does your membership mean to you?
Being a member of MPI is an important part of my career. Being in touch with the industry and being able to give back as a mentor to others is a big part of developing new leaders. Having worked with students at UNM in the Event Planning area has been a highlight. 

Tell us about your passions; in and out of the office.
My passion outside of my family is project management where planning, execution and delivery is measured by both myself and the client. 

Is there anything special about yourself you wish other members knew about you?
I am a connector, I love to work with professionals in the industry. If there is an opportunity that I think would benefit another I am excited to share the opportunity. We are all here to help each other to succeed.

Have you done anything exciting or out‐of‐the box lately?
I have embarked on the concept of branching out and forming my own company to assist small organizations who do not have the assets to reach their potential. 

What inspires you?
Innovation inspires me. I get energy from different ideas and an energized team. Each individual has input that is invaluable and an asset to the project.

Why do you think others should be a part of MPI New Mexico?
MPI New Mexico is a thriving organization which mission is to assist in the professionalism of the industry and to be the “go to” for education. The activities of NMI- New Mexico are vital to the health of meetings and events professionals to enhance the organizations of those who are members.
