1. Tell us about your business and your current job.
I recently began representing the historic St. James Hotel in the beautiful river town of Red Wing. As a sales manager, my main goal is to educate Twin Cities meeting planners about our charming property and trying to get prospects over the hurdle of hesitation towards our manageable distance from the metro. The traffic-free commute down river opens the door to a unique getaway for groups of all sizes.
2. What do you hope to gain from your MPI Membership?
I am anxious to meet more industry pros, learn more about the strong Twin Cities business community, and have a little fun along the way.
3. If there was only one thing a potential customer could remember about your company, what would that be?
The 140-year history of the St. James Hotel gives us an ambiance that simply cannot be found anywhere else. We perfectly blend our history with modern amenities and technology that fast-paced professionals expect from a full-service venue.
4. What one piece of advice would you give to a new supplier joining the MPI network?
Be vocal – you never know when a conversation with the right person can lead to a desired outcome.
5. What has been the best piece of advice you have been given, and how has it made a difference in your life - personally or professionally?
My sister gave me Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree” after high school graduation with a note on the inside cover to ‘never stop being the tree’. In all realms of life, I have tried to remain rooted with this sentiment - giving support or showing care with no expectations of a return of service.
6. What are some of your favorite pastime activities?
Music is big passion of mine – I play the French horn in several bands and orchestras throughout the metro area. Big sports nut (SKOL Vikings) and avid tennis player. Most recently, I began volunteering as a pet therapy team through Mayo Clinic’s hospice program in Red Wing with my hound dog Huckleberry.
