Up-Close Profile – Supplier: Janna Caven

1.Tell us about your business and your current job.

Pinstripes was built from a passion to gather, to celebrate, and to experience sophisticated fun. We have eight locations nationally, soon to be 28!  We are growing!  We welcome groups of all sizes to come in to gather around our outdoor fire pit, rival friends in a game of bocce, or lace up the bowling shoes in our grand rendition of the classic American past-time. We can host from 8 - 1,600 people.  My current role is Director of Sales, as I oversee all the events and off-premise catering sales managers in Edina, Minnesota.

2.What do you hope to gain from your MPI Membership?

I hope for Pinstripes to gain recognition as a meeting and non-profit event venue, as we are much more than a bowling alley!  I look forward to connecting with members both in Minnesota and nationally. I also look forward to the education, professional development and sales training opportunities at meetings.

3.If there was only one thing a potential customer could remember about your company, what would that be?

Exceptional service.  We work from a deep sense of urgency to deliver the Pinstripes Experience; from the initial phone call to the planning to the execution of your meetings and events.

4.What one piece of advice would you give to a new supplier joining the MPI network?

Goodness, I’d actually like the advice to be given to me!  I’ll try to sit with strangers and be as active in our meetings and events as possible!

5.What has been the best piece of advice you have been given, and how has it made a difference in your life - personally or professionally?

“Seek first to understand, then to be understood.”  It has helped me grow in my practice of patience and has encouraged me to be a better listener for my clients, my officemates, my daughters and my husband!

6.What are some of your favorite pastime activities?

I enjoy yoga, good wines, joining in with my daughters Girl Scouts’ activities, planning events, sleeping and reading…and not always in that order!
