MPI MN Up-Close Supplier Profile: Susan Milteer

1. Tell us about your business and your current job.
Event Lab is celebrating 25 years serving the corporate and social communities, both locally and nationally, with award-winning event design, décor, creative floral, production, transportation, entertainment and event management.  I am honored to have been here 13 of those 25 years! My excitement and enthusiasm for the quality, creative design and stellar décor we produce keeps me energized to continue to tell the Event Lab story to current and future clients.     

2. What do you hope to gain from your MPI Membership?
I love the diversity of our MPI membership.  Seasoned professionals in their careers and those new into the workforce in their chosen positions is energizing to me.  I enjoy hearing their stories and if, along the way, I can tell them about our amazing company and how we can assist them…all the better.    

3. If there was only one thing a potential customer could remember about your company, what would that be?
That all of us at Event Lab lead with a strong desire to listen, create and deliver the event a client expects and deserves.     

4. What one piece of advice would you give to a new supplier joining the MPI network?
Manage your expectations about quickly generating business.  A sure-fire way to get yourself and your company recognized is don’t just go to a meeting or join a committee…step-up, speak-up, raise your hand and truly get involved.  You have joined an amazing International organization and our chapter wants to hear from you.  Enjoy the opportunity to participate and expand your knowledge and relationships.  

5. What has been the best piece of advice you have been given, and how has it made a difference in your life - personally or professionally?   
Understanding the importance of developing strong, productive, sharing, worthwhile personal and professional relationships.  Cultivate those relationships and they will fulfill you in ways you can’t imagine.  

6. What are some of your favorite pastime activities?  
Minneapolis is my hometown and I love just being out and about with my husband and friends dining out, theatre visits and a good rock ‘n roll concert now and then.  I garden, needlepoint and we travel a little.   We are actively involved in the Minnesota Zoo and their annual BEASTLY BASH, décor by Event Lab – one of the very BEST events in town!
