Why did you join MPI? I am new to the event industry and felt it would be a wonderful opportunity to meet “more experienced” planners and soak up knowledge.
How long have you been in the meetings/hospitality industry? I am very new to the industry, although I have had the pleasure of assisting in various events throughout the years.
How did you decide to get involved in this business? What influenced you? When the position became available at Mid-States, I felt I needed to make a change. I knew I could learn so much from the Director of Events and the other Event Coordinator. I also felt I could add creatively to the team. I definitely made a great decision. I enjoy my career and the ladies I work with!
What’s the most valuable advice you’ve received about working with meetings? That during an event, something will not go as planned and to make sure the attendees never know something is off. Always keep your demeanor, a smile and work it out.
What is one piece of advice about meeting planning you would share? Make sure that you always have every person’s best interest at heart.
What is one thing about this industry that you love? I love the end result. I love seeing all of the hard work come together and everyone walking away happy.
What is one thing about the industry would you like to see changed? I am not entirely sure about seeing a change. I am positive that as time goes by, there will be something that pops up.
What do you do outside of work? Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and 2 (almost) grown daughters keep me busy. I also enjoy having friends over for dinner and games.
