Why did you join MPI?
I am new to Radisson Hotel Group (started March 5, 2018) and new to this role. I wanted to get involved in MPI for the learning, observing, and connecting component. MPI was recommended as a place to reach out to for continued growth and a great community of sharing and spreading knowledge/experiences.
How did you decide to get involved in this business? What influenced you?
My degree is Kinesiology - Exercise and Fitness. I always thought I would be an athletic trainer, however, working in a restaurant while attending college, an executive chef took me under his wings and upon graduation, he offered me an opportunity of a life time. That is how hospitality (leadership role) became a part of my life 16 years ago.
What’s the most valuable advice you’ve received about working with meetings?
Two minds are better than 1 – brainstorming is a key component to creating an experience!
What is one piece of advice about meeting planning you would share?
Asking questions is a Strength! Visualize… truly visualize/SEE the event from start to finish – that is how additional questions are shaped.
What is one thing about this industry that you love?
The challenge of the unknown - Bringing the ‘thought’ to life.
What do you do outside of work?
Family – Friends - Fun. I have two nieces that I absolutely adore, supporting them in life, activities and sports – I am a great cheerleader, very loud and can whistle like no other :)
I am part of an amazing group of six women called Super6…We have been on life’s journey together for over 40 years! Love the Twins Cities F&B scene… aim to be out and about seeking new experiences as much as possible.
