How did you decide to get involved in this business? What influenced you?
As a teenager who wanted to travel more than I was able, I wanted to be a flight attendant or travel agent. I started my career as a travel agent and worked into planning small meetings and then after 6 years, made the official move into a meeting professional role.
What’s the most valuable advice you’ve received about working with meetings?
Never burn bridges. Eventually in your career, you will need to work with that person and/or company.
Don’t take advantage of your partners. Be respectful, ethical and have integrity.
What is one piece of advice about meeting planning you would share?
Never stop learning, meeting people and volunteering. Each of those will help you grow both professionally and personally.
What is one thing about this industry that you love?
The community!!!!!!
What is one thing about the industry that you would like to see changed?
Nothing. This industry is full of changes!
What do you do outside of work?
MPI Volunteer, my husband and I started a committee to build a handicap accessible park in our hometown, and I am my son’s personal chauffeur, playmate and cuddle partner.
