Why did you join MPI?
Do Good Events decided to join MPI after hearing about the great networking and content provided through the community. Do Good Events is dedicated to being good partners in the industry and I am excited about this opportunity to connect with more event professionals and grow my network.
How long have you been in the meetings/hospitality industry?
I have personally been in the event industry for about five years and I work with a fantastic team at Do Good Events with a cumulative of over 35 years of experience between our team. Do Good Events has been in business for 6 years.
How did you decide to get involved in this business? What influenced you?
After exploring multiple careers, it started to become very clear that I not only LOVED events, but my skills aligned with them. I get fed by the energy of events, the community they create, and seeing creatives minds work together to make an impact. I am passionate about my work and believe that the events world is not just a job, it’s a lifestyle. I get to experience the most incredible events through my work and that is the biggest perk of all!
What’s the most valuable advice you’ve received about working with meetings?
Plan for the unexpected. No matter how thoroughly you plan an event, something is going to go sideways, so it’s important to have Plan A, B and C ready to roll. For me, that plan may not mean having the answer to the problem but always knowing who to ask and the fastest way to get ahold of them.
What is one piece of advice about meeting planning you would share?
To make planning fun, you need to love what you do and work with people that fill you up. Taking on a project should not just be about making an extra dollar, it’s important that the project resonates with you personally and that you can be excited about it. When passion and work align - great things are achieved!
What is one thing about this industry that you love?
I love the creativity. There is something so cool about brainstorming concepts and then seeing them come to fruition. In my role, I also get the opportunity to empower committee members and push them to achieve more. When my clients have wins and get another sponsor or hit a goal, I am so excited for them!
What is one thing about the industry would you like to see changed?
The very best events are when I get to work with people who are excited to collaborate and be transparent with one another. I am excited about the opportunity to build genuine connections and relationships so that we can better serve our clients and put on extraordinary events!
What do you do outside of work?
I’m a wife and mom of two littles. I love escaping the business of the cities to do some biking, camping, and gardening. I am living my best life by rocking my dream job and also having a beautiful family to celebrate life with and experience the outdoors as much as possible.
