Why did you join MPI?  

I joined MPI so I could remain active into the events industry, maintain and create business relationships, attain my CMP, and keep learning so I can continue to be relevant in the market.

How long have you been in the meetings/hospitality industry?  

I have been working in this industry for almost 4 years.

How did you decide to get involved in this business?  What influenced you?

I have loved to host and plan gatherings my entire life. I had the opportunity, through work, to grow my knowledge and take a position in the meeting and events world. My manager was active and talented in this field and help me learn, develop, and flourish in my role!

What’s the most valuable advice you’ve received about working with meetings?
  
It never hurts to ask!  Whether this applies to negotiating a contract or asking for a favor, don’t be afraid to make your request. If the answer isn’t what you’re looking for, it’s ok, don’t take it personally. You typically end up more information and can move forward confidently without regret.

What is one piece of advice about meeting planning you would share?  

Keep learning! I love to learn and expand my knowledge base in events and beyond.  I try to attend as many MPI courses and webinars as possible. I subscribe to a variety of podcasts and social accounts that focus on events, marketing, business, and more.  Things change and update constantly in this industry. If you continue to learn, you will be able to apply relevant concepts in your work and improve your value!

What is one thing about this industry that you love? 

The people and camaraderie! I love all the friends and connections I’ve made over the years.  It’s amazing to see such support between niches in the industry. If I have questions or need advice, I know I have a fantastic network of individuals ready and willing to help!

What are some of your favorite pastime activities?

I love running, baking, being outdoors, eating gummy bears, and everything about the autumn season. I also adore cuddling and playing with my boys and going on brewery dates with my husband (our goal is to visit every brewery in MN!)
