MPI MN Profiles Planner Dianna Fuller, Senior Director, Global Accounts, HelmsBriscoe.
Why did you join MPI?
I originally joined for the educational and networking opportunities. I have discovered the multitude of benefits our chapter has to offer, both personally and professionally.
How long have you been in the meetings/hospitality industry?
I’m celebrating my 25th anniversary with MPI this year. Where does the time go?!
How did you decide to get involved in this business? What influenced you?
Like many people, I stumbled into this industry many years ago. Since then, MPI has helped me with my career. I made use of every opportunity to volunteer. Working within committees and on the board of directors provided both personal and professional growth. It gave me the opportunity to see how others worked and maybe more importantly, for others to see how I worked.
In 2000 I received my CMP designation and in 2007 my CMM. I would never have pursued this continued education without the help of MPI. I also took advantage of participating in the EMPI awards program. I have nominated many, many individuals and I am fortunate to have won many of these awards which I include on my resume.
I gained clients, colleagues, and friends. I learned how to work with volunteers to collaborate and execute to achieve a common goal. If people can work together as volunteers and not get paid, just think how successful they will be working together on a paying job!
Today I work for HelmsBriscoe and I know I got the position because of my involvement in MPI. I was hired by Michael Bergman, who I served on the board of directors with for three years. This time gave both of us the opportunity to establish an ethical and successful working relationship.
