MPI MN President's March 2021 Message

Hello Members,

Spring is in the air and we are so close to seeing each other in person.  As people being vaccinated continues to increase and the positive cases continue to decrease, we can see hope. Hope for our industry and hope for our community to start the recovery process as we meet again and travel.

In the next three months we have three in-person events and our planning teams are working hard to implement health and safety protocols for these events.  In April, we will be coming together with other associations in our industry to celebrate Global Meeting Industry Day at the New Omni Viking Lakes Hotel.  In May, we will have our annual education day, We Connect at Canterbury Park.  Finally, our Year End Celebration will be at Rush Creek in June.  We are cautiously optimistic as we move forward to in-person.

In the month of February, the Membership Committee and the board made calls to our members who are not currently volunteering on a committee. These calls highlighted current open volunteer opportunities as well as additional options to get involved!  Look at the website and click in Get involved!

As I and many around the world are deeply saddened by the passing of Arne Sorenson, the CEO of Marriott International and my CEO, I want to share Arne’s response when asked for career advice. His response was consistent: “Listen, Take Chances and Stay Curious.”
