MPI Minnesota Profile Supplier Hannah Mergl, DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington Minneapolis South director of sales & marketing.

Tell us about your business and your current job.

I work at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington Minneapolis South, right off 494 & 100. Our hotel has 568 guest rooms and 80,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. We just celebrated our 50^th anniversary and are embarking on a $35 Million renovation this month. I joined the team in August as the director of sales and marketing, but previously worked at this hotel as a group sales manager from 2016-2019. My role is to lead the sale team and focus on our strategy and marketing efforts as we head on this new journey.

What do you hope to gain from your MPI Membership?

I am looking forward to engage with my local hospitality professionals - to share best practices and collaborate and stay up-to-date on current market trends.

If there was only one thing a potential customer could remember about your company, what would that be?

Our hotel has a unique layout that allows tremendous flexibility for all your event needs –with 568 guest rooms, 80,000 sq. ft. of flexible space, and 40 breakouts.

What one piece of advice would you give to a new supplier joining the MPI network?

I would say take advantage of all there is to offer and start volunteering and contribute to the discussion!

What has been the best piece of advice you have been given, and how has it made a difference in your life - personally or professionally?

I just joined last month, and have not had my first meeting yet but I love the positivity and passion I have seen so far in the members I have spoken with. I was given an opportunity to join a committee and be a chair for WeConnect and could not be more excited. I love that the leadership promotes engagement and having a diverse team on every committee to spark the best collaboration.

What are some of your favorite pastime activities?

In my free time I love to spend time with my 3-year-old hound mix Thor and go to a new hiking spot around the area, try learning a new recipe, or travel to a new city and explore.
