MPI Minnesota Big Wins in 2023

As we look back on 2023, we can easily say that it was a year of big wins. From incredible venues to memorable speakers, excellent prizes, relevant and inspiring content, and of course, all of our incredible volunteers and members. As we reflect on some of Minnesota Chapter’s biggest wins from 2023 . . .

We welcomed 62 new members to the chapter. As you may know, the COVID-19 pandemic shook the meeting and event industry, and in turn, impacted the chapter’s membership levels. Adding 62 new members in one calendar year is a huge win. This is a 25% increase in membership. We are thrilled to welcome each new member and hope you find MPI’s core values and mission well-represented.

MPI Minnesota also hosted unforgettable events this year. Our volunteers worked really hard to confirm some amazing venues. Some of our member favorites:

The August Kick-off at Target Center. Held Wednesday, August 16, all the chapter committees were represented to provide an opportunity to connect with visitors and members. There were excellent games and prizes, creative and enjoyable food and beverage options, and what a comprehensive tour! So many private event spaces to hold events of all sizes.

The September Roundtables at Punchbowl Social. Held Thursday, September 14, 2023, this event provided attendees the chance to have an intimate discussion with industry peers on hot topics affecting the meeting and event industry today. From cannabis to event technology and AI, how to budget in today’s current climate, and better ways to network, this event provided many great connections and conversations as well as some fun games in a unique venue.

October monthly meeting: Knock Your Contracts out of the Park with Mary Ellen Reihsen. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, attendees learned about current legal tips and discussed issues impacting event professionals. From HR labor laws, and contract clauses, to things to avoid. Understanding all the legal terms and issues faced in the current climate will make us better able to work with and for each other.

The Holiday Celebration & Silent Auction at Topgolf. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, brought great temps and an opportunity to win $10k with a hole-in-one contest. No one won the money, but it was fun watching attendees enjoy the golf, the venue, food & beverage, and the silent auction. With over $11k raised from the event, this gives us the chance to continue to provide top tier content at our events and give back to the community.

For the 2022 – 2023 fiscal year, Minnesota Chapter of MPI was awarded the Chapter of Excellence Award. With over 67 chapters and 12,000 members worldwide This is earned by meeting 6 of 7 key performance criteria. This is a testament to our volunteers and chapter leaders and their incredible work to further the Minnesota Chapter and the meeting and event industry.
