Our All Team Meeting was held at the Embassy Suites on October 18 after our dynamic presentation by Steve Keating from Toro. This All Team Meeting happens once or twice each year and is an opportunity to get more involved with MPI Minnesota as it relates to their committees and volunteer initiatives.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide our volunteers with leadership training based upon the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership ™. The Five Practices include:
Model the Way
Challenge the Process
Enable Others to Act
Encourage the Heart
Inspire a Shared Vision
This vision is the work of Barry Posner and James Kouzes, two researchers who had studied and wrote about leadership since the early 80’s. Now in its 6th edition, The Leadership Challenge is the book that presents the framework we’ve adopted. This book is the foundation of our leadership philosophy and we encourage you to read this book.
As we went through the Five Practices of leadership, we related these practices to our roles and goals within the MPI Minnesota Chapter. This was not only invigorating, but very inspirational.
After our leadership discussion, we reviewed each committee within MPI Minnesota and learned the key topics and initiatives for each of our committees. This was a great review of the structure of our chapter and gave us insight into the priorities and the focus of each committee.
Here is a quick committee overview:
EDUCATION – Responsible for planning and implementing monthly member programs.
LEADERSHIP – Foster leadership opportunities & professional development for our chapter.
MEMBERSHIP – Has two focal areas: membership care & retention and recognition.
STRATEGIC ALLIANCES – Forge partnerships between MPI MN and its partners to financially support and enhance the programs offered by the chapter.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS – Voice of the chapter and serves as the liaison between chapter committees and members.
We are always looking for people to get involved with our chapter and contribute to one of our committees. If you are looking for that type of engagement, please ask any of us. We would love to have you!
