Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), Thursday, April 8th, will honor the meetings and events industry’s enduring business value and bring leaders together from across the Hospitality Industry to showcase the impact that live, hybrid and virtual meetings and events have on people, businesses and communities. Meeting professionals around the world participate in this day of advocacy, led by the Meetings Mean Business Coalition.
MPI Gulf States invites you to participate in Tribute Tables, a GMID activation to pay tribute to the Hospitality & Tourism Industry losses as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The activation aims to bring awareness to the recovery process by highlighting Hospitality & Tourism Industry businesses that are open for business and best practices for Covid-19 safe operations.
What is a Tribute Table?
A Tribute Table is a public facing table with a full tablescape and vacant chairs placed by partner businesses in their lobby or public-facing outdoor space. The full tablescape and vacant chairs emphasize decrease in business and leisure travel numbers to New Orleans and the surrounding region. Each table will have information regarding the Hospitality and Tourism Industry provide by MPI Gulf States and our friends at New Orleans & Company.
Note: There is an opportunity for it to be other types of equipment, not just a table. Creativity is encouraged!
How can my business participate?
Any business in New Orleans and the surrounding region can participate by creating / displaying a Tribute Table in a public space maintained by your businesses. Examples: a lobby, an outdoor parklet, or sidewalk eating space.
Can I partner with another business?
Yes, your business can partner with other registered businesses. For example if you’re a venue you can partner with a décor supplier or vice versa. You can find your own partnership or request to be paired with a partner on the registration form.
Is there a registration fee?
The registration fee is $30.00 per business, per table activation.
If two businesses partner on a table activation the fee is $30 per business. If a business has more than one table activation, the fee is $30 per table activation. Registration deadline is March 26, 2021.

Can I promote my business during the activation?
Absolutely! We encourage participating businesses to have a GMID special/promotion that we can list on the activation landing page. This is very open-ended and examples are a special room rate, a food and beverage special, or deal on attraction tickets. The promotion information collected on the registration form.
You can also share your participation with current and prospective clients to set site visits or start conversations around industry recovery and what your business is doing to move forward.
