MPI Georgia connection? I have a long a history with MPI, as I am an instructor for MPI’s Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate program, and joined in 2012.

How did you get into the hospitality industry? I was working in corporate America and found the potential for layoffs on a regular basis very unsettling. This prompted me to look at other opportunities and I eventually began working for one of the largest association management companies. I absolutely loved the environment and eventually became the Executive Director/Executive Vice President of the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA). The rest is history as they say. I now find immense enjoyment working in marketing and for a company, Poretta & Orr, that is a leader in the custom exhibits, events and hybrid industry, providing companies opportunities for meaningful engagement experiences. 

What's one of your most unique personal or work accomplishments during your time at home this year? I have been able to take a few classes that I’ve wanted to take but never got to. I’ve read a few more books than I would typically have the time for and I finally updated my LinkedIn page which was in desperate need of some pizzazz. I also got involved in a number of industry organizations by volunteering. I don’t always have the time for that when travel is normal so it has been so rewarding to align my efforts with organizations that are making a difference in our industry during this unique time. I am very fortunate that Poretta & Orr supports my efforts to help keep our industry moving forward.
