Amber Wright Events Marketing Manager eVestment, a part of Nasdaq Members since 2020 |
MPI Georgia connection? With my previous company, Meeting Expectations, I was able to attend a few of the networking events with MPI. I joined in 2020 and volunteered on the 2021 Tech Summit overseeing logistics and ROS.
How did you get into the hospitality industry? My first job in the hospitality industry was working at the pool shack at the Cherokee Town & Country Club in Buckhead. But really, I would be remiss if I didn’t say that it really was kicked off in 2016 by my Mother-in-law. At that time, she worked as the Director of Marketing at Manhattan Associates. Her planner left the company roughly 5 months prior to their 1500+ user conference event in Orlando. She said, “you were made for this” and she took a shot on me. I am forever grateful for her believing in me and trusting me to jump into the planning world! From there I moved over to Meeting Expectations where I will remain forever grateful for the experiences and “training” I received. Truly, without these experiences, I would not be where I am today!
What's one of your most unique personal or work accomplishments during your time at home this year? I’ll go with a personal accomplishment on this one although the work ones are always fun to share. Back in December, I was hit by a car while running on my lunch break. On top of social isolation from the pandemic, I had to learn how to walk after a few long winter months of healing after surgery. While I am still not able to run, I get to walk again, and I am so relieved. I think this season of my life has taught me so much and that every day is truly a gift. There are silver linings in every situation we encounter both in our personal lives and at work!
