*What inspired you to get involved with MPI Georgia, and what has your journey on the Board been like so far?
After several years
of being a member, I decided to follow the instruction of many and join a
committee to the get the most out of my membership. It was then, when I started
getting involved, that I truly started to flourish in the MPI Georgia
community. After chairing 3 events, a seat on the Board seemed like the natural
progression to my MPI Volunteerism. My professional circumstances changed, and
that prohibited me from being as involved as I originally hoped; however, the
team was exceptionally understanding and kind. I’m hopeful in my career I will
be able to serve on the Board again down the road.
*How has your experience with MPI Georgia influenced your professional growth and perspective on the meeting and events industry?
I’ve always loved the MPI Georgia community and knew this Board experience would only enhance that feeling. It’s been an honor to serve alongside the other amazing professionals who devote their time and energy to this organization.
*What has been the most rewarding aspect of your role as a Board member, and how has it impacted your approach to leadership?
Encouraging members of the community to be involved, and then hearing how much they gained from their volunteer time always felt like a win to me when I would hear them express their gratitude that they were selected to participate.
*What do you see as the biggest opportunity or priority for MPI Georgia in the coming year?
Now that the verticals have been clearly established and set a strong foundation for the Board, I’m excited to see verticals start to merge and collaborate. I feel confident this will help increase membership and promote volunteerism within the chapter.
*Which MPI Georgia event are you most proud to have been a part of, and why?
After chairing the Fall Classic in 2023 with Kevin Priger, this event will always stay special in my heart. I love how it is playful and fun. It promotes creativity amongst the committee and also forces our members/community to step away from the everyday hustle and bustle and JUST HAVE FUN!
*What advice would you give to new members or those considering taking on a leadership role within MPI Georgia?
To the new members: Welcome to an active chapter of the MPI Community! The connections you make here can change your world both professionally and personally. Embrace the various events and educational opportunities. You will hear this a fair amount in your time with our chapter – but please note it couldn’t be more true -- The more involved you get with the chapter, the more you will get out of your membership!
To members considering a leadership role: Take the leap! It will be worth it in the end.
